Tuesday, March 29, 2022, TVRI East Java presented the Point of View Talkshow Program with the theme "Forest Management Ethics". This event was attended by resource persons who focus on forest issues, such as Dr. Ir. Transtoto Handadhari, M.Sc (Chairman of the Indonesian Forest Care Foundation), Dina Hidayana SP MSc (Doctoral Candidate at the Indonesian Defense University, Expert Staff of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly who is also the central administrator of YPHI), and Eka Desi Susanti, a student of the Islamic Community Development Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta who as well as the central committee of YPHI representing the Indonesian youth generation.
This talkshow discusses the issue of forest management, especially in Indonesia. Where Indonesia is an area that has the third largest number of tropical forests in the world.
Transtoto said that the essence of the existence of forests is the environment, because without forests there will be many natural disasters such as floods and erosion which will cause the soil to not become loose and cause drought. Therefore, forests are very important, because thousands of biodiversity grow.
In addition, according to Eka, the role of the public in protecting forests is very important, especially for the younger generation. Because to protect forests, various elements are needed which are not small in number. So it is necessary to realize that the public's role is indispensable in carrying out reforestation efforts and social movements in order to be able to manage forests without fraud, in a fair and sustainable manner. Thus, these efforts become part of maintaining human relations with nature.
Dina added that after all, the forest is an ancestral heritage that must be preserved by his successors. Forests also have an important role in national defense. Especially when viewed from history, the forest is a place of protection and a fortress in every battle that has wealth that can sustain people's lives.
