The Islamic Community Development Study Program or commonly abbreviated as PMI is one of the study programs at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. PMI study program which was present in Indonesia on November 18, 1998 after the reformation was included in the scope of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication. As an applied social science with a superior and leading vision in the study and development of society, the PMI Study Program combines religious studies and social theory to carry out community development, where the work of transforming society in Islamic studies is included as part of the work of da'wah with action (dakwah bil hal). .

PMI Study Program produces graduates who have community development competencies based on Islamic values ​​in particular as stated in Qs. An-Nahl : 125. PMI Study Program prints students and alumni to preach by way of bil hal by social praxis, namely practice based on theory (by doing, empowering the community), not just da'wah bil oral (lectures) and bil Kitab/bil treatise (by writing).

The study of science in the PMI Study Program is increasingly needed, because the country actually needs experts who are able to solve social problems that seem to be never finished and endless. Poverty, crime, street children, and other social problems are increasing day by day, so the PMI Study Program has a sacred duty to find alternative models for solving social problems in Indonesia, especially in the midst of the current pandemic conditions, there are many social problems that arise in the midst of the pandemic. - in the midst of community life.

Therefore, it is time for young people in Indonesia to strengthen their determination to contribute and become the main actor in solving social problems in their beloved homeland. Together with PMI Study Program, let's together increase our capacity to be directly involved in solving social problems and empowering and developing Indonesian people both in socio-cultural and economic aspects.

The PMI study program is of course very open to all alumni of high school (SMA), vocational high school (SMK), Madrasah Aliyah (MA) and Islamic boarding schools. Because the study of PMI science is very thick with social, cultural, religious values ​​and is relevant to people's lives, of course anyone can easily learn and study science in PMI Study Program.
